Sung Taek Hong: Lhotse South Wall attempt No 7!

Sung Taek Hong wants to know it:

He will be attempting Lhotse south wall, one of the hardest walls on the planet, again. It will be with 7th and hopefully last but successfull attempt. Here is what he said:

“So far this time, I climbed only in the fall in bad conditions. Spring sunshine is warm and abundant. It’s the time. The Himalayan flowers, the cherry blossoms and pear flowers in full bloom, express the feelimgs of the Himalayan land. Our team left Kathmandu two days ago and we arrived in #Namche#Namche bazaar located in 3,400m. Every members are in good condition and we are doing well as our schedule.”

He will be climbing with some very experienced, world-class climbers such as Jorge Egocheaga Rodriguez who was with Sung Taek Hong on Lhotse South Face in 2017. Jorge is a very experienced high altitude climber. In Oct 2017, they have reached camp VI 8250m, but due to severe rock falling they had to cancel their final summit push.

In their team, they have other excellent and very experienced climbers also. Of of the team members is Uta Ibrahimi, the first women from Kosovo to reach Mount Everest, who has been on the summits of 3 8000m peaks (Manaslu, Everest, Lhotse).

The 3300m high wall has not been climbed many times. They might be following Kukucza route. Stay connected, we will keep you posted!
